Luckily, music app companies predicted this and built their apps to support Wi-Fi free playback. Here are our favorites:. Probably one of the most popular music players out there, Spotify comes in either Free or Premium versions. Compared to its competitors, Spotify premium offers a lot more features: unlimited song skips, playlist creation and management, no ads, and the best feature, downloading music for offline play. You can also control the audio quality when downloading and streaming songs so you can save on data charges. Apple Music allows you to play music without Wi-Fi by requiring you to create a playlist in advance. While that might not bother some people, I personally enjoy seeing what my friends listen to whenever I want to take a break from my usual routine.


Less of a music streaming app and more of a social media platform for music distribution, SoundCloud is more about sharing independent artists, little-known singers, and people trying to make it big in the music scene. Beyond that, it also has a decent collection of podcasts and news casts, most of which come from independent casters. SoundCloud also lets you upload your own songs or podcasts and is a great way to get traction for your burgeoning singing career. But if all you want is to listen to indie music, SoundCloud is the best app to use: it lets you search songs by specific genres, subscribe to friends to see what they upload or listen to, and find currently trending songs.


SoundCloud is completely free and lets you access all its features as soon as you finish downloading. Speaking of neat package, Google Play Music probably has the most aesthetically pleasing and intuitive user interface out there. Google Play Music also has a radio streaming feature that recommends songs and artist to users based on your current music library. Stations can be saved, and if they have an offline playlist, you can also listen to their music without internet. One of the newest music apps out there, Amazon Music comes with a song and artist catalog of more than a million tracks, complete with unlimited streaming and zero ads forever. There is, however, a day free trial period that lets you experience all the features of Prime for a month. The Amazon database is very impressive, with a wide breadth of artists, genres, and songs in their library.


All songs you download will immediately be saved on your phone, where the Amazon Music app arranges it by your choice of system. This music aggregating app also has one particularly cool feature. They are among the most popular music streaming apps available, and you might be using it already. They are quickly becoming a destination for podcast content as well. Their extensive catalog is near unmatched, or at the very least on par with just about any other streaming app you can name. To listen to music offline, it is necessary to download tracks. There is a bit of a catch though. Deezer is a French founded online music streaming service that gives you access to major label and independent music alike. As with Spotify, Deezer allows you to create playlists of your favorite music so you can save and listen later.


Their Flow technology gets to know your listening habits after a while, and helps you find more of what you enjoy. Deezer can be used on any device, including your computer, smartphone, tablet, smart TV, or otherwise. Again, as with Spotify, you can download the Deezer app for free and begin using it. Wait, Napster? Yes, while it used to be a illegal peer-to-peer file sharing network, over the years, it has transformed into a music streaming service, much like the rest. Their main claim to fame seems to be their Playlist Maker, which makes the creation of playlists easy. It comes with smart recommendations based on your taste.


Of course, listening offline is a key feature, and you can listen on your computer, iOS device, home device, or Android device. Your library and playlists are stored in the cloud. TIDAL is a Norwegian subscription-based music, podcast, and video streaming service. You might recall that it had rather odd beginnings. Rapper Jay-Z acquired developer Aspiro, and upon launch, stood around with cohorts, trying to make it seem as though they were ushering in a new era in music. Their main selling proposition, upon launch, was that they offered lossless audio and high-definition music videos with exclusive content and special features.


HiFi, by the way, also gives you HiFi sound quality over Premium sound quality , and TIDAL Masters. LiveXLive is a streaming service home to music, video, and podcast content. They were once known as Slacker Radio. With Premium, you can also play on demand. Their website is incredibly hard to use if not a little broken. That said, you can still get the free app and it works fine. You will need to upgrade to Gaana Plus to get access to unlimited MP3s for offline listening, ad-free experience, high-definition audio, and the ability to sync downloads to five devices.


But you do get a day trial as well. JioSaavn , like Gaana, is a streaming service dedicated to trending Bollywood Hindi music. But they do have podcast content as well. The apps showcased here are the most legitimate and up-to-date ones we could find. There are others out there, but many of them are no longer supported or are simply not worth it.
